Privacy Policy
MockMentor is owned and operated by Zaan WebVeda Private Limited ("MockMentor", "we", "us" or "our"). We value your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information of every student who uses MockMentor ("you", "your" or "User").
This Privacy Policy explains what Personal Data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- our website mockmentor.ai (the "Website");
- the MockMentor plugin inside ChatGPT (the "Plugin"); and
- any features, study groups, leaderboards or services we offer through them (together, the "Platform").
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use. By signing up for or using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of your Personal Data as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI. Your use of ChatGPT itself is governed by OpenAI's own terms and privacy policy, not this one. This Privacy Policy covers only the data that MockMentor receives, stores and processes.
2. What we mean by Personal Data
Personal Data means any information that identifies you or can be used to identify you, such as your name, email address, date of birth or city.
Sensitive Personal Data means passwords, financial information, health information, official identifiers (such as Aadhaar or passport numbers), and any other data classed as sensitive under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, or other applicable data protection laws. MockMentor does not ask for Sensitive Personal Data. Please do not share it on the Platform.
Usage Data means anonymised or aggregated information about how students use the Platform, such as which features are used most or average mock scores by exam. Usage Data cannot identify you, and we may use it to improve the Platform.
3. What data we process and why
We collect only the data needed to run MockMentor for you. What we collect depends on how you use the Platform.
3.1 When you visit the Website
We automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, pages visited and time spent. We use this to run, secure and improve the Website and to understand how students find us.
3.2 When you sign up
You sign up using your Google account. Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use this to create your account, identify you, and let you log in.
3.3 When you complete onboarding
We ask for:
- name, email address, date of birth, city, and school or college;
- your primary exam;
- where you are in your preparation;
- whether you have taken a recent mock;
- what feels hardest right now;
- your target score or percentile, if you have one; and
- your preferred explanation language.
We use this to set up your profile, match mocks and study plans to your exam and level, and communicate in your preferred language.
3.4 When you use MockMentor inside ChatGPT
When you add the Plugin and authorise it, your ChatGPT account is linked to your MockMentor account. MockMentor only receives what is shared with it while you use the Plugin, not your wider ChatGPT history. This includes:
- your answers to mocks taken inside ChatGPT, with time taken and scores;
- scorecards, OMR sheet images or screenshots you upload for evaluation;
- questions and answers you submit to "Check my Answer";
- progress updates you share with MockMentor;
- the study plans, weak topics and performance analysis MockMentor creates for you; and
- how you use features, such as asking for another explanation or leaving a mock halfway.
We use this to:
- evaluate your mocks and answers;
- build and update your personalised study plan and resource links;
- remember your progress between sessions;
- create new mocks focused on your weak topics and track weekly improvement; and
- understand which features help students and fix the ones that do not.
MockMentor uses AI, including the OpenAI API, to generate mocks, evaluations and study plans. These are automated suggestions to help you prepare. They are not official results and do not make any decision with legal effect on you.
3.5 Streaks and daily tasks
We record the daily tasks set for you and whether you complete them, to calculate your streak and unlock features.
3.6 When you join a Study with Friends group
Study groups work on the Website. When you join a group, the following is visible to every member of that group:
- your name;
- your daily tasks and progress towards the group's weekly goal;
- your scores in group tasks and challenges; and
- your personalised analysis and weak areas.
Only join groups with people you are comfortable sharing this with. You can leave a group at any time.
3.7 Public leaderboard
MockMentor has a public leaderboard that anyone can see, including people who are not MockMentor users. It may show:
- your name;
- your city; and
- your exam, score and rank.
We display this to recognise top performers and encourage healthy competition.
3.8 Referrals
Every student gets a unique referral link. When someone signs up using your link, we record that they came through you, so we can track your referrals and unlock features for you. We do not ask for or collect your friends' contact details. Your friends share their own data with us only if they choose to sign up.
3.9 Feedback
MockMentor may occasionally ask for your feedback. Giving feedback is optional. We use it to improve features and understand what students need.
3.10 When you contact us
If you raise a question or grievance, we process your name, email address, the details of your issue and our conversation with you. We use this to verify your identity and resolve your request.
3.11 Communication
We may use your email address to send you essential service messages, updates about MockMentor and responses to your requests. If we begin sending non-essential messages, you will be able to unsubscribe from them at any time.
3.12 Legal purposes
We may also process your data to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests from authorities, prevent fraud or misuse of referrals, resolve disputes, and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. Where we collect your data from
- Directly from you: when you sign up, complete onboarding, take or upload mocks, share progress, join groups, give feedback or contact us.
- Automatically: through essential cookies and similar technologies when you use the Website (see Section 10).
- From third parties, with your permission: Google shares your basic profile when you sign in, and ChatGPT passes information to MockMentor when you authorise and use the Plugin.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell, rent or trade your Personal Data. We share it only in these cases:
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Service providers | Companies that host, store or deliver parts of MockMentor for us. They process data only on our instructions and may not use it for their own marketing. |
| OpenAI | To run the Plugin inside ChatGPT, and to generate mocks, evaluations and study plans through the OpenAI API. |
| Other students | Members of your study groups see your group progress, scores and weak areas (Section 3.6). Anyone can see the public leaderboard (Section 3.7). |
| Our affiliate companies | Companies in the same group as Zaan WebVeda Private Limited, where needed to run or improve MockMentor. |
| Legal and regulatory authorities | When required by law, a court order or a government request, or to prevent fraud and protect our rights. Where the law allows, we will tell you as soon as reasonably possible. |
| A buyer or successor | If MockMentor or Zaan WebVeda is merged, acquired or sold, your data may transfer to the new owner, who must continue to protect it under this Policy. |
| Anyone else, with your consent | Only if you explicitly agree. |
Third-party tools we use
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Sign-In | Account sign-up and login. |
| OpenAI (ChatGPT and OpenAI API) | Running the Plugin and generating mocks, evaluations and study plans. |
| Cloudflare | Hosting and delivering the Website and Plugin server, and protecting the Platform. |
| Amazon Web Services (AWS) | Hosting the PostgreSQL database that stores student accounts and progress. |
6. Hosting and cross-border transfer
Our primary database is hosted in India. Cloudflare, Google, OpenAI and other service providers may process data on servers outside India. When this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data is protected in line with this Policy and applicable law.
If you use MockMentor from outside India, your data may be transferred to and processed in India. By using the Platform, you agree to this transfer.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data, onboarding details, uploaded scorecards and OMR images, mock results, study plans and progress for as long as your MockMentor account is active. We keep it so your study plan, streaks and progress history continue working across exams and preparation cycles.
You can ask us to delete your account by writing to mockmentor@webveda.com. When you delete your account, we delete your Personal Data within 30 days, except where we must keep some of it longer to:
- comply with a legal obligation;
- prevent fraud or referral misuse; or
- resolve a complaint or legal claim.
After deletion, your name is removed from the public leaderboard and your study groups. We may keep anonymised data that can no longer identify you, for research and to improve MockMentor.
If you disconnect the Plugin from ChatGPT, MockMentor stops receiving new data from ChatGPT. Data already stored stays in your MockMentor account until you delete it.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable laws, you have these rights over your Personal Data:
- Right to access: Ask for a summary of the Personal Data we hold about you, how we use it, and who we have shared it with.
- Right to correction: Ask us to correct or update data that is wrong, incomplete or out of date. You can also update your onboarding details yourself.
- Right to erasure: Delete your account, or ask us to delete your data. Some data may be kept where the law requires (see Section 7).
- Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing done before it. Some features may stop working without the data they need.
- Right to nominate: Name another person to exercise your rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to do so.
- Right to grievance redressal: Raise a complaint with us if you believe your data has been misused. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate it to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, write to us at mockmentor@webveda.com. We may verify your identity before acting on a request. We may decline requests that are clearly false, repetitive or made in bad faith, and we will tell you why.
9. How we protect your data
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or change. These include:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS) between you, ChatGPT and our servers;
- secure login through Google and authorised account linking with ChatGPT;
- limiting data access to team members and contractors who need it for their work, under confidentiality obligations; and
- regular reviews of our security practices.
No system on the internet is completely secure. If you think your account or data has been compromised, contact us immediately at mockmentor@webveda.com. If a data breach affects you, we will inform you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
The Website uses essential cookies and similar technologies to:
- keep you logged in;
- remember your preferences; and
- secure and operate the Website.
We use session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay until they expire or you delete them. We do not currently use analytics, advertising pixels or session-recording tools.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the Website, such as staying logged in, may not work without them.
11. Children's privacy
MockMentor is intended for students aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not sign up. If we learn that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us at mockmentor@webveda.com.
12. Third-party websites and links
MockMentor's study plans link to outside resources such as websites, videos and articles. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
13. Business transactions
If Zaan WebVeda Private Limited or MockMentor is merged, acquired, sold or restructured, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction. The new owner will be required to continue protecting your data under this Privacy Policy.
14. How to contact us

15. Updates to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as MockMentor adds features or as the law changes. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date below. For important changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email or on the Platform. Continuing to use MockMentor after an update means you accept the updated Policy.
